ADVENT- the Christian season of preparation, remembering, and living an alternative to the bustle, worry, and stress of this world
Peace-
if there was ever a talks of stress in town in today’s tumultuous time (alliteration friends) it is this season.... shopping, spending, famine or feast, economics, politics, war, rumors of war, election fall out, policy, healthcare, family, grades, eligibility, relationships, gifts,
there is an answer-
PEACE- somehow the otherworldly supernatural knowing and nurturing of God intercedes to guide us, warm us, gift us with peace
a “peace that passeth all understanding” a peace that transcends the worries of this world and yet grounds us to a mission, a way of life
there another way-
ADVENT- the season we celebrate our answer of Christ, born in a manager, the SaviorKing in a stack of hay born to us on this a Christmas day
prepare your hearts for peace.. give yourselves to the Prince of Peace and Maker of All Things...
.... peace is not found in a half-resolved life or a last ditch effort... peace is the thing that carries from place to place... the shoe of our feet
A Prayer for Today
“You are my helper and my savior. O my God, do not delay.”
(Psalms 40:17 NLT-SE)
REFRAIN
“Whom have I in heaven but you? and having you I desire nothing upon the earth.
““The time will come,” says the LORD, “when the grain and grapes will grow faster than they can be harvested. Then the terraced vineyards on the hills of Israel will drip with sweet wine! I will bring my exiled people of Israel back from distant lands, and they will rebuild their ruined cities and live in them again. They will plant vineyards and gardens; they will eat their crops and drink their wine. I will firmly plant them there in their own land. They will never again be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the LORD your God.”
(Amos 9:13–15 NLT-SE)
REFRAIN
“Whom have I in heaven but you? and having you I desire nothing upon the earth.
VERSE
My help is in the Name of the Lord who made the heavens and the earth. What then shall I fear, of what shall I be afraid?
The Prayer Appointed for the Week
Almighty God, give all of us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through hum who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
REFRAIN
“Whom have I in heaven but you? and having you I desire nothing upon the earth.
