Freaks and Geeks Week 1- Geeky Thing- Study and Read

Christians do this Geeky thing where they..... Read the Bible

Freaks and Geeks Class Period 1- Biology-Biblios
it is no secret that I am an avid reader... step into my office and you will find shelves packed with books; stop me with my backpack and you will always find multiple books marked up, highlighted, seemingly devoured by a page eating monster... in fact reading is so much apart of me that sometimes you get known for it... i wonder if that would work anywhere else?

Reclaiming the title People of the Book... with Pride
just like the term Christian was originally used as a put-down from outside groups... so too was “People of the Book” used by Muslims to describe Jews and Christians that were constantly reading, studying, and praying texts from the Bible

I think we have lost a little bit of that, we barely read and rarely carry our Bibles anymore it is a trinket or trunk of information that seems dusty and old.

How unfortunate for those that have not heard the stories of God’s redemption; how the people of God are just as confused as we are today, and yet God calls out to them, draws them, and restores them!

“had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD, and to do it”
(Ezra 7:10 ESV)

But studying the Bible is not just studying the Bible for the Bible’s sake... it is for our own lives and character that we would be dedicated to the task of learning what God speaks to us... so many times I hear you ask for advice and guidance and the pages of scripture call out to you with example, wisdom, and grace.

““You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
(Matthew 22:37 ESV)

Jesus is not meant to be just the Savior of our live and the Lord of our Emotions but our thoughts as well...

tomorrow night we are going to discuss heavily what it means to study scripture and try to put some of it’s value back into our rhythms of life... see you tomorrow night at 6:30pm I can’t wait!

here is a idea/video to leave you with.... if you never start, what all would you miss? if you are afraid of what’s next don’t forget what you have seen so far? if you are searching for surprise, then commit yourself to learn?
